At Home With Felix Cavaliere
Hullabaloo, November 1967

This month HULLABALOO is taking you into the beautiful home of the intellectual, creative, guiding-light Rascal, Felix Cavaliere.

HULLABALOO snap-shooter Glen Craig, editor Bruce Gedman, and Rascal publicist Pat Costello arrived at Felix's house at the appointed hour of three o'clock on a hot, humid summer afternoon.
Felix: "Hi."
Glen: "Hi."
Pat: "Good morning. Hope we didn't wake you up, too."
Bruce: "Buon giorno (good day) and congratulations!" Felix: "Huh?"
Bruce: "On your Gold Record, remember" (The Rascals just received their Gold Record for 'Groovin'" the night before.)
Felix: "Oh, right. Thanks."
Felix and Eddie Rascal live together in a fantastic duplex garden apartment in a conservative town house on East 79th Street, across the street from Woody Allen. Eddie was upstairs dressing, so "Fe" showed us around and these are some of the possessions we spotted:
1 discarded wrought-iron railing.
2 marble slabs improvising a benchtable.
Several rose bushes (uncultivated).
1 big poison ivy bush (Cultivated).
2 empty pizza boxes on top of the garbage can.
1 cast-iron urn on top of a pedestal.
1 sponge mop.
1 corn broom.
The usual appliances, cabinets, etc.
1 martini pitcher.
1 honeycomb (the only two things visible ).
The living room is quite large and is furnished nicely with the furniture from the previous tenant who sold it all to Felix.
1 Baldwin electric harpsichord.
1 Baldwin amplifier (for the harpsichord)
Several acetates (records) containing several tracks from their new album.
1 Tandberg stereo tape recorder.
1 wine rack.
1 Felix doll, (probably made and donated by a loyal fan).

1 pewter mug inscribed: "Dieu Et Mon Droit" (?).
1 Laughing on the Outside Aretha Franklin LP on the phono.
2 boxes of wooden matches from the Tin Lizzie Steak House.
3 philodendron plants.
1 hanging mobile.
1 wooden fraternity initiation paddle inscribed with Felix's name. This is a remnant of his college days when he was attending Syracuse University. He is the son of a dentist and was slated to be a doctor. He attended two years at Syracuse, but "I just didn't want to be it doctor." It is just as well. Now, he has something he is really dedicated to - a career as a fine musician.
1 mug from the University of Pennsylvania.
3 boxes of incense. (The whole house reeked of it. It was very pleasant though.)
1 Chinese gong.
1 pipe
3 paintings (also left by the old tenant).
1 blue area rug.
1 Ragamuffins poster.
1 print of some Picasso nudes.
1 can of Flying Dutchman pipe tobacco.
1 Mandala poster.
Various charcoal sketches and photos and montages from fans.
1 big Sophia Loren personality poster opposite the bed. ("She is my favorite entertainer.")
1 stuffed snake.
1 sombrero.
12 pipes in pipe rack on a night table next to his bed.

1 Panasonic portable TV set on a folding card chair next to his bed.
1 can Royal Yacht pipe tobacco.
1 floor lamp.
Lots of fan letters lying about.
Several publicity photos of the group.
3 scatter rugs.
1 can MacBairns Harmony (?).
1 painted brick (!) signed by some fans.
1 pair of red granny glasses.
1 can Ronson lighter fluid.
8 boxes of Tri-X film for Felix's new 35mm Nikon.
1 Beatle poster.
1 pair of thongs. (The rest of his clothes were put away.)
1 Gold Record for "Groovin'." ("I won't have it long though. My parents will take it as soon as they see it. They did that with my 'Good Lovin'
Gold Record.")
By the time you read this, the Rascals should have their third Gold Record, for "A Girl Like you." We hope there will be many more.
